More on stealing sermons

Dan Edelen has entered the dialogue on pulpit plagiarism: "To discuss plagiarizing sermons, we must begin with the ultimate source of a sermon message: Does our preaching ultimately have its source in men or in God?"

Oh, don't worry about Dan, he can handle it, I'm sure :)

    Blessings in Christ Jesus!

  3. Milton:

    Holiday Greetings for sure!

The plagarism thing seems to me -- is more about the "doing" the work than it is about the "truth" of the work. But then, there is a larger responsibility as to the truth of that work (core truths of scripture). The thought that comes to mind is; is the pilferer is a scholar as well. Is the pilfered material conclusive and true to the Holy Writ, or not? Seems to me the easy way-becomes harder. God may reserve the right to hold that person accountible in a higher sense, especially if the intent was to be slothful to begin, and the material was not according to the Word. Compounded interest, or what?

It's about cracking your own lobster vs. lazy-man's lobster. With that, I'm getting hungry and need to see to the provisions in the kitchen!

Blessings to all and have a great and Happy Thanksgiving.

  5. Thanks, PF. Your lobster analogy is making me hungry, too, even after turkey and ham.

  8. I know of a preacher who
    copied word for word his
    entire series of sermons
on Genesis (almost a year in length) and had to resign. He had been paid a
    very handsome salary and he
    should have preached. Thou
    shalt not steal.
