More on Christians and politics

Here's another thought from Biblemike:
Somehow we have confused liberal and conservative Christianity with liberal and conservative politics. Neither their goals nor their hopes nor their means are the same. When we confuse the world with the spirit and the spirit with the world, the world will win and division will reign.
Good point.

Update: Ish provided this link for further light on Christianity and politics.

You know, that is a very good point and something I have been thinking about a lot recently. I hear it all the time. If you look at scripture like the bereans, you are a liberal, if you take a verse this way, you are conservative.....why do we do that? It really makes no sense, but you see it all the time. I find myself falling in this at times....

Part of the confusion, I think, is because there really is some overlap. But as Jim Wallis articulates in the article I linked to yesterday on the ethics of life, we shouldn't confuse theological and political liberalism.
