Life depends on change

Rusty Peterman has posted a short, encouraging essay on change in the church: "Want a clinical definition of death? No more changes."

But there is a paradox in describing lack of change as death: Our God is the Living God. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever. (Heb 13:8. "I the Lord do not change." (Mal. 3:6). Christ is the head of the church. The church is the body of Christ. The head doesn't change, yet lives. The body must change, or it dies? Each member must be transformed spiritually in order to live. But, if the body changes so much that it is no longer recognizable as the church, then it will die rather than live. This is quite a complex subject in which change must be always be defined correctly in order for the idea that "life depends on change" to hold true.

You're right, it certainly is complex.
