Transforming Sermons: Expert advice on preaching

Tim Ellsworth may not be a preacher, but he's heard enough sermons to know what preachers ought to be doing (HT: Oversight of Souls).

After a good list of 8 "requirements" for a preachere, here's what I wrote in the comment section there:

9. Pray for me, the listener and parishioner, so that I might hear God’s Word in, through, because of, and/or inspite of the messenger. Because, although much burden resides in the preparer of the sermon, much burden resides in the one preparing to hear the gospel.
