Are you a Christian thief?

Mark Loughridge reminds Christians that ripping .mp3s we didn't pay for is stealing: "So if you need to, repent and clean out your hard-drives."

Copyright infringement is not mentioned in the bible. To steal is to take something away from someone else... but my downloading an mp3 does not leave less copies of the song available for others.

Just because a commercial group is looking to rip us off in new ways be redefining something as theft does not make it so.

Our government has given rights to the owners of the songs, usually the music group or the record label.

Therefore, we must submit to our government, because God says we are to submit to the authorities that He has placed over us. Rebelling against these God-ordained authorities is sin. No matter the motives of the other party to make more money or what. Sin is sin, and is exposed is many ways.

It's easy to rationalize and justify this sin, but in the end, God sees our hearts. We need to have a good strong fear of God, and then we will delete our mp3's.

Thanks for bringing up the question, anon, and thanks for a well-conceived answer, Ryan.
