Unmasking the Church of Oprah

The virtues of Oprahism. . . appear to be subordinate to, and ordered by, the prime virtue of self-realization and self-actualization rather than that of finding the self by losing it in sacrificial service to others, subject to the will of God. Its heroes tend to be Prometheans injured by, and in defiance of, the Traditional Moral Order (let us all weep for them a bit), lap-christs for the entertainment of silly women. Oprahism, to be sure, is chock-full of "virtues," but the order in which they are placed relative to one another in the scheme of the whole makes the phenomenon a veil of evil.

Yeah, what Oprah puts out there is so damaging. People underestimate just how powerful she is. Her word makes or breaks people.

It is so important that people realize that her charity is a mask for new-age belief that is leading people straight to hell. She is someone I pray for everyday because I have seen the destruction her "you are your own salvation" message can do on those who cannot discern who is really behind her message. Even the devil comes as an angle of light....

Thanks for your comments, Kirstin, and I'm so encouraged to hear that you pray for her every day. For some reason Christians seem to find it easier to complain about the sins of celebrities, politicians, and other public figures than to actually pray for them. Amazing things can happen in response to prayer. Please keep at it.
