On 'doing well'

Jeff Weddle: "Societies create standards of success. These standards are frequently in opposition to God’s standards."

Milton, has your traffic fallen off? Has it to do with a break you took from the site? Yikes.

On societal standards of "doing well" as they apply to preachers and their churches, I have come to the conclusion that while it is customary to bash them from time to time (an act of humility or grace for those who are doing well, an act of apology or accusation for those who are not), everybody embraces them. Everybody. Even those who don't care to admit it. We shouldn't, of course. But we do.

So I try to avoid the kabuki dance of condemning societal standards of success that on a soul level I embrace.

And, of course, I thank the Lord for his grace. What an amazing thing that he should accomplish so much of his work through clamoring, teeming, scratching, clawing, preening, posturing, ambitious men!

Yes, I suppose it has fallen off, but I try not to get to hung up on such matters.

Thanks for your comments. And, by the way, I wonder if CB is the CB who I think you are: the BPinOR. Peace.
