On Narnia and the Lion

Craig Williams at Tabletalk has been writing lately about my homeland: Narnia. Here's one of his latest posts.

I grew up never having read about Narnia. But I am a late and recent fan of the Chronicles. I read The Holy Wild by Mark Buchanan and he referenced the great quote by Mr. Beaver about whether Aslan is "quite safe."

"Safe? Safe? Who said anything about safe? Of course he isn't safe. But he's good."

Buchanan tells another Narnia story in the book, and that was enough to hook me.

Yes, that's one of my favorite and most memorable scenes, and its retelling still causes my heart to swell up within me. Another life-shaping scene is the one where Puddleglum stomps on the witch's fire.

Happy hammin' and eggin'!
