Brad at 21st Century Reformation draws on the writings of N. T. Wright to
describe the fundamental worldview of the NT writings. Paul, for example, wrote in the context of first-century Judaism, which saw the history of God's people as a cycle of exile and return. But in the death and resurrection of Christ, that cycle has been broken forever, and the time has come to implement Christ's great achievement.
How often I hear the unbelief of our hearts saying, "the testimony of scripture is that we will always return to exile and failure". Has the great victory of God occured in the cross of Christ or not? The very cancer of the curse has been removed from the society of the church. What then is the great achievement other than the building up of the people of God to be that city set on a hill?
Good question. The church has a job to do right now in proclaiming, building up and showing forth the Kingdom of God. And God has given us his power and his presence to do just that.

You state the point so succinctly. I bet our sermons are shorter than mine too. I really am enjoying your site. Keep up the good gospel links.
Thanks, Brad, for your original post and for your friendly comments. And blessings to you in proclaiming the Word of God!
