"God's chosen channel of power"

All Christians would agree that what is most needed in the present age is a loosing of the power of God among us, but what is often forgotten is that the proclamation of His word has always been God's chosen channel of power.

Romans 1:16; the Word of God and its preaching has inherent power; the power of God. It empowers the Spirit-filled living of God's word. That is when the Kingdom of God comes to earth. Thanks for the reminder Milton. Great quote!

Listen, I agree with this - but too many times we think that the SIMPLE reading of God's Word, or preaching of it, is ALL we need. Yet, this is NOT what we see in scripture, is it? We actually see some sort of moving or evidence of the Holy Spirit - the POWER BEHIND the preached Word... I think it is true that God's Word is THE foundation - but it is just that - a "foundation." If ALL we do is read God's Word, we will get nourished - but we may not really encounter the powerful presence of the Lord in life-transforming ways... it is not either/or - it is plus/and.
