Razzmatazz evangelism
Why does the majority of most churches' resources get funneled back into Sunday morning (facilities, staff, programs)? And, in a culture growing increasingly suspicious of “razzmatazz” is a spectacular worship production still the best way to draw people to God? (Has it ever been the best way?)

I guess before I know what I think of the quote, I need to know how you define "razzmatazz." Without sounding like a jerk, I would think that it is pretty relative. What is SOP in one part of the country/world might be considered excessive and "razzmatazz" in another. How would YOU define it?

That's hard to say in a forum like this. If I start listing elements of razzmatazz, someone could probably find an example where one or more of the items are not. I would have to fall back to the rationale U.S. Supreme Court Justice Potter Stewart used to define obscenity: "I know it when I see it."
By the way, thanks for your link to your blog. I'm glad to find another blog on preaching. If you have no objections, I'll add yoru feed to the preaching weblogs page (link on sidebar of this blog's main page).
Happy blogging!
