On good and bad religious art

Anthony Esolen's reflections on kitsch, cynicism, sentimentality, and truth in art is worth reading. The essay is for general readers, but preachers in particular would do well to pay attention.

anthony is a very good writer, but i am glad he does not make his living as an art critic.

I will admit that I'm not familiar with any of the works he references, so I can't speak to the quality of his particular criticisms. But I especially like his observations about the deadening effects of both sentimentality and cynicism in art. Peace.

yes, i am sorry. i was just thinking that my comment does not sound very nice. it is just that he is a awsome writer but sadly i completely missed the point of what he was talking about and responded badly as well.

thanks for the nudge in the right direction.
