Helping preachers to proclaim, and all Christians to hear, the transforming Word of God
posted by Milton Stanley at 12:13 PM
Don't be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind so that you may be able to determine what God's will is -- what is proper, pleasing, and perfect. - Rom. 12:2

Linking to a given site doesn't mean I necessarily agree with everything it says. And since this is a blog, not a sermon, I'm not being fastidious about qualifying every post. If you're a preacher of the Word, you ought to be able to separate the wheat from the chaff. If you want to see what I believe and preach, go to my sermons page:

i liked the article very much except for the part where he said "we need to teach people to conform to the life of Christ."
I think God's law shows us that we are not up to that, and that Christ is the one who transforms our lives through Him. Otherwise you put people on some sort of religious ladder that will only lead to a great fall (despair), or a great uprising (pride), or a great charade (phoniness).
I say preach Christ crucified for sinners, and let the chips fall where they may. The Holy Spirit is quite capable of conforming the lives of those that 'hear' it.
Thanks! Nice post, nice article.

Milton, the article was awesome.
I'll disagree slightly with steve (above). I think we need a perfect example, even when everyone knows we can never live up to it. We do need to teach people to conform to the life of Christ ... and we need to conform to it ourselves.
What we do for Him, we do out of gratitude for what He does for us.
What we do for Him, we do with Him, through the power of His Spirit given to us, so we do it in partnership with God.
What we fail to do for Him, we fail to do by relying on self and losing our focus on the One who scorned the cross and walked away from the tomb.
Steve & Keith: Thanks, brothers, for adding to the discussion. Peace.
