The problem of eloquence in sermons

John Piper (via Unashamed Workman) writes on the dangers of eloquence in preaching and concludes, "Pray for me. This is not an academic issue for a preacher."

Thank you for sharing this article. I know somebody who falls into this category. A very eloquent speaker, very persuasive...but, well, Wrong.

Oddly, though, I never really thought about it too much until now. It seems that in our culture in particular, we often value presentation over substance.

And I think this may be something I need to watch for in my own life, as well.
