"The only shot we have"
John Wesley used to hammer John 3:7 continuously. He was once asked "Why do you keep preaching 'ye must be born again?'"Yes.
His answer, "Because ye must be born again."

Don't be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind so that you may be able to determine what God's will is -- what is proper, pleasing, and perfect. - Rom. 12:2

Linking to a given site doesn't mean I necessarily agree with everything it says. And since this is a blog, not a sermon, I'm not being fastidious about qualifying every post. If you're a preacher of the Word, you ought to be able to separate the wheat from the chaff. If you want to see what I believe and preach, go to my sermons page:

Please check your source of information. I've heard it was George Whitefield instead of John Wesley.
My source for the quote is Harry Ironside in a commentary on John's Epistles. Therefore, I will pass the buck to Harry!
Like Jesus said to Niccodemus when he(Niccodemus) asked "how"?
Jesus said,"from above...you can't do it...the Spirit is like the wind...it blows where it wills."
Whitefield, or Wesley, whomever...may have been accentuating the wrong verse.
Thanks for the comments, guys. And and thanks, Jeff, for both the article and comments. Peace.
one catches more flies with honey...and one gets more comments with a post that shows a flaw.
:-)
it is interesting how we are attracted to little flaws, big accidents, weird clothing, things that just do not seem quite right or things that are a bit different from our norm. it makes us stop and take a closer look.
