Blog-out for the Kingdom November 20-26

Inspired by the words of 2 Peter 1:5-8, Dan Edelen is asking all Christian bloggers to take a week off from blogging November 20-26 and devote their time to putting love into face-to-face action. What do you think?

Well, I think it is a tremendous suggestion. In fact, I am struggling with a radical idea: Whether blogging is compatible with Christian living. I know, I know, call me crazy, radical, reactionary. But I am all too sane, I am afraid, and I am rarely given to fits of unreason.

Perhaps I will share my thoughts soon, as they take better shape. I've already written that I am participating in a medium I fundamentally oppose, recognizing in that admission my own hypocrisy. So I am mindful, at least, of a haunting struggle going on within my soul. Yes, it is more complex than mere doubt. And it is more complete than mere opposition to technology.

Of course, at this moment I am not making sense. Suffice it to say that I will participate in that week of disconnection, to say the least.

WG: I wonder the same thing. Blogging is way too much about The Latest New Thing. I try to distill the best of Christian blogging on this blog, but in the process I do the very thing--scanning tens of thousands of words each day--that I think is counter-productive to centered depth in the Christian mind.

It seems, btw, that we were reading each others' blogs, as I've just come back to TS to post about your latest post.

great idea for any who wish to follow suit, but no need to imply binding of this idea on those who wish to not follow suit.
