More blog awards

Thanks to those of you who voted for TS as Best Religious Blog in the Weblog Awards. All the best to winner Joe Carter of Evangelical Outpost.

A lot of blog awards are going on this time of year, including the 2006 Evangelical Blog Awards at the Evangelical Underground. I've nominated several blogs, based on quality of writing, consistency in posting (which left out some of my favorites--you know who you are!), and purely subjective taste. Also, some of my favorites I didn't nominate because there were simply too many worthy choices for each available category. With that caveat, then, here are my nominees: Allthings2all, anti-itch meditation, Believer Blog, Blogotional, Broken Messenger, Cerulean Sanctum, The Christian Mind, Contratimes, Eternal Perspectives, Gad(d)about, Gratitude and Hoopla, Jesus Creed, Jim Street, Kingdom Adventure, Not Quite Art-Not Quite Living, Odyssey, Purgatorio, Scotwise, Stronger Church, Sudan Watch, Sycamore, Swap Blog, Under the Acacias, The Upward Call, The View from the Nest, Windows to my Soul, Wind Scraps, and Winter's End. I know I've left out many worthy blogs, so I encourage you to go to the EBA page and post your own nominations.

Note: I choose to take the Evangelical Blog Awards at face value--that they recognize those who hold to the euaggelion, or good news of Jesus Christ. Although the EU includes plenty of political commentary, I'm trusting the awards remain non-partisan.

Milton, thanks for the nomination! You're the first friend I met through blogging, and you might be the best. At the very least, you're an example to me in encouragement, faithfulness, and ministry. Blessings!

I checked this sit out after you left a comment at my blog the other day.

Thank you for thinking of me. I'm not sure how appropriate it is for me to be included with the auspicious list you have, but thank you. It's a vote of encouragement for me.

I like your new picture.

You're more than welcome, Kim.

Glad someone likes the picture. I didn't like the way I held my chin up in the old one (to hide my double chin). This one really isn't much better (only so much you can do with the subject matter), but it does have the advantage of being taken on my back porch with the Blue Ridge mountains in the background.

First of all, I like the new look, very COOL!! Very Hip, very pastor goes to Virginia....very cool.

Secondly, I am honored that you nominated us. Like Brian you were our first blogging pal and the fact that you have suffered throgh our bad post and still think we are worthy is appreciated. We will have a link up in a bit and one back to you...thanks again for your encouragement over the last year or so and for the nomination it is appreciated.

Stay strong, be couragous, and serve God in all things.

P.S. - we commented on your Firefly comment, I think you will like it.

Thanks, Frank, for your kind words about the picture and everything else. Glad to nominate Team Swap. Your blog is full of all kinds of good stuff. Not all of it is on the topics I quote in this blog, but I do want you to know I appreciate it!

Thanks for your recognition and for pointing visitors to my site over the year. I visit your blog just about every day to get your synopsis of Christian blogging and enjoy your efforts, so much so that I think you could blog on Saturdays too! I value your presence in the blogosphere.

You're welcome, Jeff. Thanks for your kind words about this blog. I don't blog on Saturdays (in fact, I don't usually even do comments) because that's my day off, and blogging can all too easily allow me to neglect my wife and children. I appreciate your work at a-im and enjoy your efforts, too! Peace.

Even my mother wonders about some of the content on the blog at times. It is "did you have to link to THAT?" So no problem and thanks again for the nomination, though the evangelical underground seemed to go down after we were nominated...we call that irony, others call that fate or the price of being associated with us..*LOL* .

Anyway we are just honered to be nominated and when the site gets back up we plan to post about it.

Thanks again, stay strong, be couragous, and stay warm in VA as it is freezing in TN at the moment.
