Helping preachers to proclaim, and all Christians to hear, the transforming Word of God
posted by Milton Stanley at 5:20 AM
Don't be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind so that you may be able to determine what God's will is -- what is proper, pleasing, and perfect. - Rom. 12:2

Linking to a given site doesn't mean I necessarily agree with everything it says. And since this is a blog, not a sermon, I'm not being fastidious about qualifying every post. If you're a preacher of the Word, you ought to be able to separate the wheat from the chaff. If you want to see what I believe and preach, go to my sermons page:

I think newspapers and magazines are just as much a factor in the production of information divorced from understanding.
Reading nothing but blogs or news is definitely not good. Balancing it with other reading, especially Scripture, isn't a bad thing, but I can see how one can get caught up in blog reading to a fault.
I always find it amusing that when Christians quit things they feel a need to spiritualize it and then make anyone else who happens to still be doing the thing they quit feel somehow inferior. Why not just say you're tired of it?
That sounds about right to me, Kim. Newspapers (not to mention teevee news) have for years encouraged short attention spans and shallow treatment of issues. The place of Scripture is indeed important, too.
In fairness, Jeff, we don't know what the man's motivations were for quitting. It sounds to me like he had valid reasons to quit, just as I have valid reasons to keep going. Peace.
That is quite interesting.
He just may be right too. A short blog certainly cannot develop a complex argument like a article or book. But it almost like kicking against the grain. We should simply strive for excellence and avoid mediocrity like the plague.
BTW, I really enjoyed the blog about Tolkien and Romans. I am preaching through Romans currently and found it stimulating.
Thanks for the kindness and graciousness.
Shalom,

Glad you found a link to something useful here, Bobby. By the way, if you're preaching through Romans, you might be interested in having a look at my sermons texts on Romans at
