More Word in worship

How TRUE! Most services, more time is spent on the announcements.

I hadn't thought of that, but how true and how sad. And how correctible!

We have our announcements on power point (which is another thing altogether!)but there are still loads of announcements.

What I don't like is when the Scripture passage is removed in such a way that we don't know what the context is. Lots of times, if they had just included the entire paragraph where the main passage was, the problem would be solved.

I really like it when the congregation reads responsively.

From what I've seen I agree, Kim, that we need more context to our Scripture readings. The mainline denomination in which I grew up used to have little introductory readings for the passage, but at times those introductions went too far into interpretation--and some of it not very good!

I like responsive readings, too, especially of the Psalms.

Thanks for your input.

Thought I'd say hi--also let you know we have a new member in our family, grandbaby Peyton. She's been in NICU all week with respiratory distress...improving lately, and being moved to the regular preemie unit.PTL!

Thanks for the update, Vicki. Sorry to hear she's been in respiratory distress, but glad to hear she's going back to a regular premmie unit. For what it's worth, I was a month premature and weighed only 3 lb. 10 oz, and look at me now! I'll be praying that your grandbaby thrives.

Also, it's good to see you have a family member named after a former UT Vols quarterback.
