Trusting in our sleep

I hadn't given this much thought, but it makes sense: A theology of sleep (HT: Between Two Worlds).

That has crossed my mind a time or two as I lay there at night. I think it is pretty cool that even the most calloused and paranoid person at some point has to close their eyes and leave themselves vulnerable for 1/3 of the day, every day.

Yep. And for those paranoid and calloused persons, sleep can be a specially strong act of faith. Peace.

i think we can get ourselves into a whole lot more trouble when we are awake. sleep sleep wonderful sleep, from the top of my head to the tips of my feet!

a welcome relief when things are bad. more and more desired the older, or sicker, one gets...until the final sleep comes.

i have witnessed that when an old person says, i am just very tired. it can mean quite often that they are close to dying.

Dear Milton,

Thank you for this. I will study it carefully.

It brings to mind the deep sighs of my senior-year roommate in college as we shut the books and dimmed the lamps: "Ahh, sleep - that blessed sacrament."

Peace.
