Honor and need

In the United States need degrades a person; failure condemns a person, but not in the kingdom of God. To be in need is to be in a position of honor.” - Arthur C. McGill

i think we can easily feel sorry for the need of people including our own.

for we all have a spiritual need of God, that gets placed on other things to take it's place, and we have physical and mental pain and decay kind of needs, and these needs help us to understand our spiritual need for God. we can love eachother knowing that we all need help in one way or another.

it is a very interesting way to see helping as people helping/loving oneanother.

that it is a beneficial relationship for all, in that God transforms in many different ways through the process of this kind of relating.

i always hated being in a place where i am the one in need of the help and not being able to do anything for myself or others.

it is a hard place to be in.

i suppose it could be made a little easier if seen as a benificial relationship. i know it is hard for people to be the caretaker of someone in great physical, mental or spiritual need that is extreeme, but, it is also very hard to be the person needing help.

obviously, we all need God in Jesus. and Jesus was very aware of the need of humans...all kinds of their needs. and all kinds of their suffering in this fallen world. so i guess we should be aware of it in our selves as well as around us, and not see it as anything but what it is. fallen man of which we all are, and love oneanother. and share the good news of what Jesus has for us.

i am a bit long winded this evening. just wading through my thoughts.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts, Nancy. I was thinking about what you wrote about how hard it is to be the one in need of help. A few years ago I came to realize how absolutely sinful was my own insistence on not needing help. My wife has helped me see that not allowing others to help us in our need is in fact denying them the blessings from God that come with helping. Plus, the one refusing help loses the blessing of humility. Things are truly upside-down in the Kingdom of God.
